WHO ARE WE?

EMILY MALCOLM-FOUNDER AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Emily has worked in the cultural sector for over 20 years, covering roles in local government, working in theatre and in the third sector. She has always been drawn to heritage based arts projects and has managed several over the years. She feels projects about our history can bring communities together, help different generations understand each other and help us learn from the past. Plus, they can be a lot of fun!

ELIZABETH HELM-FINANCE DIRECTOR

Liz has spent her career in local government in a variety of finance roles. This has given her exposure to the wide range of services provided by local authorities, including the cultural side, and it's where she met Emily!

WHAT WE DO

Yesterday's Story CIC aims to tell stories from the past, by bringing them to life through arts, culture and live events.

The company's activities will provide benefit to children and young people, older people, families, people in specific localities and people who share a common interest.

WE AIM TO

Increase civic pride and the understanding of local heritage

Work with local schools and colleges, community organisations and groups, to engage people and raise their awareness of the history of their area.

Improve wellbeing and social cohesion through artistic engagement and creativity.

Develop performances, workshops and participatory events to increase participation in the arts.

Encourage diversity and cross generational working.

Provide training to upskill the communities we work with.

PROJECTS

Queen Mary I Our First Project is being funded by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity, and will tell the story of how Mary Tudor granted a Royal Charter to Chippenham in 1554.
Keep an eye on our social media to find out about our performance in February 2023 and schools workshops.

Rooted In History We are running this project for The Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre and will be looking at how archives can inspire us today.
We will be sharing gardening archives, seeds and tips for growing, to see if the past can get us gardening today.
